Sofitel Wine Days
From the 21st of August until the 31st of October, the annual Sofitel Wine Days will take place. During this period, The Grand is all about wine. From wines of Dutch origin – which gives the local entrepreneurs a stage – to exclusive foreign wines. We would love to take you on a journey through different countries and regions, offering you the opportunity to taste and learn more about wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Discover Dutch wines
Within an hour drive from Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, in the middle of the Betuwe region and close to the city of Tiel, you find the beautiful seven hectares of vineyards from the wine estate Betuws Wijndomein. This small wine company boasts one of the bigger vineyards of The Netherlands where wines are produced with passion and craftsmanship. Owners Diederik and Arina highly value sustainability in all aspects relating to their vineyard. This can be seen in the way they use the grapes; from the ‘green harvest’ to the grape skin after the pressing process. The sustainable initiative of this beautiful Dutch wine estate perfectly fits the vision of The Grand. As a hotel we care about sustainability and we are always looking for partners who share this vision. In this way we work together to build a better world were the quality of the product remains leading.
Curious about the prize-winning wines of Betuws Wijndomein? During the Sofitel Wine Days you can enjoy a variety of wines from Betuws Wijndomein that can be found on the wine list of Bridges. Besides, together with the owners, The Grand will be organising a tasting followed by a dinner. Register now via email and we will contact you with further details.
Riesling & Pinot weeks
Riesling is without a doubt seen as the number one grape in Germany. But did you know that there are more Pinot grapes in Germany than Riesling? A range of fascinating grapes such as Weissburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay and Spätburgunder are perhaps the best known. But also Auxerrois, Frühburgunder and Schwarzriesling belong to the so-called ‘Burgunder’ or ‘Pinot.’ These numerous grape varieties also mean an uncountable number of wine & food combinations.
From the 1st until the 17th of October, the annual Riesling & Pinot weeks will take place to celebrate the versatility of the grapes. During this period, restaurant Bridges will be serving a delicious three course Menu du Chef lunch for € 45, accompanied by a German wine pairing.
